NORTHBACK HOLDINGS PUBLIC HEARING
Crowsnest Conservation applied to participate in the public hearing Proceeding ID 444: Northback Holdings Corporation, involving three separate applications: a Coal Exploration Program (A10123772), a Deep Drill Permit (1948547), and a Temporary Diversion Licence (00497386). As conservationists we believe that the Alberta Energy Regulator has an obligation to consider the future health of our natural environment and procedural and legal precedents related to these applications in their decisions.

OPPOSITION TO TECUMsEH SUBDIVISON
Letter to Crowsnest Municipal Council. We detail our strong opposition to the SentrySix application to rezone land for a Grouped Country Residential development in the Tecumseh area. Council’s refusal to approve this application will help to maintain existing wildlife corridors, water quantities, the integrity of our own municipal goals, and provincial requirements that are committed to preserving healthy natural landscapes for future generations of Albertans.

Cumulative effects of coal mining in Alberta

The CCS Board of Directors addressed their concerns regarding the proliferation of coal mines in Alberta which affects the water quantity and quality, provincial land use plans, wildlife resiliency, regulation and socio-economic environment of the Crowsnest Pass region.

Request for Federal EIA For Tent Mountain Mine Project
Letter to Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada, Honorable Jonathan Wilkinson & Director of Environment and Regulatory Montem Resources, Shirleen Ouellet. The CCS Board of DIrectors requested a federal environmental impact assessment be made for the Tent Mountain Mine Project as a succession of new coal mining projects within or near the Crowsnest Pass may transform the area into a industry-dominated center with less biodiversity.

MONTEM EIA AT TENT MOUNTAIN
Letter to Director, Environmental Assessment Regulatory Applications Alberta Energy Regulator & Director of Environment and Regulatory Montem Resources, Shirleen Ouellet. The CCS Board of Directors requested that the Montem Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) be required by the AER to address all economic effects, both positive and negative. Additionally, we requested new, transferable methodologies to consider independent and interactive measures of stressors associated with mining activity.
